How to Extend the Performance Lifetime of Your Frac Hoses?

After selection of the appropriate frac hoses, proper operations and routine maintenance are also critical in extending your frac hoses lifetime. There are some dos and don’ts that need to be taken care of during your daily operations.

  • Request quality products and make sure all necessary technical info is stamped on the product.
  • Know the limits of temperature, working pressure, and compatibility of your frac hose and fittings, never operate a hose towards its highest recommended working pressure while at or near its maximum temperature range.
  • When you are not ready to use the frac hose, do keep it in a cool, dark, and clean place. Never store your frac hoses in places exposed to heat, direct sunlight, or humidity.
  • Do regular testing and inspection on your frac hoses to check if any gouges, bulges. Never use your frac hoses in permanent, non-visible locations.
  • Inspect consistently and regularly the fittings as well to make sure they are working without any leakage, loose parts, corrosion, or any other deformities. In case of any, consult the technician or manufacture for possible repair work or replacement of new hoses.
  • Bend your frac hoses naturally. Never crush a hardwall or bend it with an unreasonable twist
  • Handle your frac hoses with care during installation and operation. Never drag it over sharp or abrasive surfaces or pull by the ends. The abrasion is the most common cause of hose failure in the oilfield.
